Welcome to the POMWOMI challenge! I want to introduce you to our first client: Stan Dunster.
Stan is a retired, award-winning high-school teacher and world traveler. He’s been married for 51 years (!!), has four kids, and 5 grandkids. He is passionate about goal setting, and has just completed his second life-coaching certification program. He now wants to launch his life-coaching business. In the past Stan has helped to run a business networking program, participated in Toastmasters and put on workshops for different organizations around the city on goal setting and time management.
Stan is “old school”. He is not computer savvy. Computers make him nervous, and he gets easily overwhelmed when confronted with a list of computer tasks. A great challenge for a social media company! He has tried to launch a coaching business before, and has a Twitter and Facebook account, and he’s even written an e-book, but he got stuck and doesn’t know how to move forward.
Enter HotSpot Promotion.
We sat down with Stan and had a few longer chats about what he wants to do and how he wants to structure his work day into his busy life. It was obvious from looking at his first attempts at an online business that he lacks the focus of a target market, or target area. We bounced around a few ideas, looking for the “spark”. Stan is not a “warm and cuddly” kind of coach. He’s very friendly, helpful, and encouraging, but he’s also very pragmatic. He has developed a 12-week program that is more of an accountability program than a traditional life-coaching program. He’s the kind of guy you call on if you know what you want, but need a little clarity regarding the steps you need to take to get there, and the kind of accountability that keeps you moving forward.
For that reason, we decided to work more with the title of “Accountability Coach” rather than a “Life Coach” which conjures up different images. We’ve also decided to do a blog that is part video and part written, so that people can get a feel for the kind of person he is, and know better if he’s the kind of coach they’re looking for.
So, what do we need Stan to do for us this week?
- create a blogging calendar with themes for 12 months based on a choice of topics we discussed
- Rough out an introductory blog post telling us who he is and what he wants to accomplish with his blog and business
- Rough out some ideas for his first four blog posts on a topic of his choice, based on the calendar he created.
What will HotSpot Promotion do for Stan this week?
- Do some extended keyword research
- Design and create a new website/blog
- Set up 2 social media accounts: YouTube and Linked In, and create a unified custom background for his social media pages.
- Design and print new business cards for him (he will cover the printing costs)
